Christmas – Advent Period
I like to get as much out of the seasons and holidays as I can, so I started thinking about ways I could incorporate the attitude of gratitude around my house in the few weeks prior to Christmas . This is how we intend the “Advent Period”. The word Advent, from Latin, means “the coming.” For centuries, Advent has been a time of spiritual reflection as well as cheer and anticipation. Even as the Christmas season has become more secular , Advent in our family still brings joy and the observance of ancient customs. We find quiet moments lighting candles in the Advent wreath, and the children use Advent calendars to count the days until Christmas, eating chocolate and reading Christmas books . I drink Christmas tee, that my friend Christine sent me from Germany . And of course , we share our joy with family and friends.
